What an exhilarating week it's been, packed with excitement on multiple fronts!
Let's kick things off at home. You might remember my wife's adventures from last week. I'm thrilled to announce that her surgery was a success, and she returned home at the start of the week to begin her recovery. Just in time for me to be out during the daytime for a few days—perhaps not ideal, but absolutely necessary.
The highlight of the week was organizing a trainer for our newest team member, "Freya." The beginning of the week consisted of visits to training yards.
Fortunately, I had done my homework the previous week and quickly narrowed it down to two options. Tuesday's visit was a revelation! The trainer dedicated two whole hours to me, which was a delightful surprise and a huge plus. The location was perfect for me personally, but I made sure not to let that sway my decision. Most yards offer similar facilities, and getting a comprehensive tour was fantastic. I left feeling optimistic, knowing the second yard would have to be truly exceptional to compete.
Next, I embarked on a long drive to Herefordshire. Once again, I was met with incredible hospitality and time, making the decision even more challenging.
Both trainers are outstanding in their own right—one is an emerging talent, while the other is more established.
Ultimately, I made my choice based on commercial factors. I chose Tom Lacey! His strike rate last season was phenomenal, surpassing even the champion trainer's. Impressively, out of 178 runs last season, 110 finished in the top 4, an astounding 61.79%! This was simply too significant to overlook and became the deciding factor.
I firmly believe in doing the right thing. While I've heard some horror stories about breaking news via message or email—or worse, not at all—I made sure to personally call the trainer I didn't choose. We had a wonderful conversation, and I hope they appreciated my effort to do the right thing. I would love to work with them in the future when the opportunity arises!
We've made "Freya" our most accessible syndicate yet, with 100 shares available at just £34 per month—an incredible value! We've already welcomed a few members to her group, so why not grab yours today? Full details HERE.

"Freya" is enjoying her break at Castle Piece Stables alongside "Ellie." Both are thriving, gaining good condition, and are well on their way to strengthening up before returning to work. "Ellie" had a lovely trim from the farrier this week and is doing wonderfully during her break.
I also visited Charlock Stud this week, and all three yearlings look fantastic. The stud graciously brought them in for my visit, allowing me some quality time with them. I met Mollie, who works at the stud, and she kindly brought them out for photos before we returned them to their fields.
The highlight of the visit: "Paul" let me have a proper cuddle, which was delightful. He's quite the big boy for his age, and in a few months, he might not be too thrilled, as plans are underway for him to be gelded!
Towards the end of the week, it was mostly about admin and planning.
Until next time!
