It's been a busy couple of weeks, prep for the sales, plumbers in and 2 new arrivals!
Preparation for the sales began a couple of weeks ago with the creation of a longlist, following the release of the Tattersalls Winter Flat & National Hunt sale catalogue! A long list that consisted of no less than 34 horses!
We then checked in with the bloodstock agent and then a day or 2 prior to the sales had whittled that down to around 15 after taking out the ones we thought would go for well over our budget! That was then whittled down to around 8 after inspections.
Sales day arrived quickly, bringing with it a whirlwind of activity and excitement. We were in quite early with bids for a couple that in the end went for just a bit too much for us but good luck to their new owners.
Then came lot 34, One that was high on my list, a May foal so on the small side compared with a lot of the others, I thought a bargain could be had, she had a lovely walk to her she was just smaller than some of the others. Needless to say we got her and for a lot cheaper than I had anticipated!

There was then a few of the long list horses we crossed off as too expensive which turned out than we were correct and they were far too expensive for us. Then lot 54 another from the beyond our budget list. I give credit where credit is due and our bloodstock agent played a blinder here there was the normal low start and 2 or 3 minimum bids he said to me "I'm going to scare them off here" and promptly bid the horses reserve price, Then, silence... "I think we are going to get her here Chris" he said. And we did! 2 horses with just 2 bids! 1 on each. We were over the moon. The agent said just before she entered the ring "I'm mad about 54" which is a glowing reference from a very highly esteemed person.

We are very excited to have them on the team and they are now available in the available shares section!
Then we had to get them home! They arrived at Charlock Stud today where they are settling in nicely and getting a bit of rest after the long journey, Carla, Graham and the team prepared a lovely pen for them to keep each other company for a few days R&R before they move into a larger area and then join some other fillies in the field.

I must also say a big congrats to the team at Charlock as they welcomed a new foal at around 1am this morning which meant they were rather tired when I saw them for the arrival of our 2 girls, the foal is a stunner with really long legs.
Now plumbers back tomorrow! Hopefully they finish the job!
