The week started off excellently with Carla and Graham's return! They successfully caught their flight out of Dubai on Sunday and immediately resumed work upon their arrival. They were greatly missed, and having them back is a huge relief!
Last week marked the launch of our YouTube videos featuring introductions to Emris Racing and "Emma" & "Pam". Paul's introduction is scheduled for release at the beginning of the week. Be sure to check it out on our YouTube channel and subscribe.

At the beginning of the week, there wasn't much happening with the horses, but things were quite hectic at home due to the installation of new windows and doors. The project took longer than expected, but I'm happy to say the work was excellently done, and there are no more drafts! We're fairly certain the windows hadn't been replaced since the house was constructed, so the update was definitely necessary!
I was delighted to visit the yard this week, having decided not to go last week to avoid adding to the team's workload. My visit turned out to be very enlightening, as the vet arrived just a minute after I did! While I usually just go to the field to see the horses, this was a prime learning opportunity that I couldn't pass up. It was a busy day for Will, the vet, with several scans and quite a few stitches needed. Carla's humorous commentary on the aesthetics of each mare's intimate areas was a particular highlight. When the mares that had foaled were brought out, I became the vet's second assistant since Graham was calming the foals and Carla was assisting the vet at the 'action' end. My task was to hold the mares, back them out of the stocks, and return them to their stables. Everything went smoothly, despite one of the foals trying to take my head off once released!

After the vet was done, Graham and I headed to the fields to check on the horses. We began in the colts' field, where "Paul" was. Although he wasn't keen on a cuddle, he appeared much more relaxed and trusting. He's gained a lot of condition since his arrival, which is hardly a surprise as he always has his head in the grass, but I'm very pleased with his progress. He's settling in well and making friends, particularly with the other chestnut colt in the field. I noticed him having a little jog as he approached us, and he moves very well. I'm on the lookout for any entries for his half-brother, J. P. McManus-owned Banter At The Bar, and his half-sister, Madeforlovingyou, who made an impressive debut a couple of weeks ago, winning quite comfortably once she got the hang of things.

"Paul's" sire Logician had his first runner on Saturday, In Between Days, a 3-year-old filly out of a dual listed winning mare. In a 1m 7f hurdle race at Auteuil and in an impressive performance, won by 8 lengths earning £23k! It's an ideal start to Logician's stallion career. We were already thrilled about "Paul's" future prospects on the racecourse, and this victory only heightens that excitement, especially since he is out of a multiple graded winner with impressive siblings!

"Pam" is also thriving. She didn't need to gain much condition since she traveled well and only had one long trip, unlike "Paul," who went to Ireland and back. There hasn't been much change with her, but she has adapted well, made many friends, and truly enjoys the large field they have.

"Emma" is one who has undergone significant change. Initially, she was just a tiny dot of a horse. As a May foal, she was very small, but she has grown remarkably in a short period. Her movement is fantastic, and if she continues to progress at her current rate, she will be an excellent choice. She even appears larger than Pam already (though she definitely isn't, she just looks it). "Emma's" movement seems effortless, and I'm happy to report they both came for lots of cuddles!
I've also invested in an upgraded camera, so with any luck, the image quality will improve somewhat, but don't get your hopes up, the camera is only as good as the photographer!
Until next time!
