New horse visit, upgrades and open days!
Happy Sunday — or whichever day you’re reading this. It’s been one of those weeks where the admin pile was bigger than a winter handicap field, but we still managed to squeeze in plenty of excitement across the Emris Racing world.
A New Arrival in the Shop — Emris Racing Scarves!
We kicked off the week with something a little different: the launch of our brand‑new Emris Racing scarves. Inspired by our silks and made from a material designed to mimic their texture, they’ve come out exactly as I hoped. I’m absolutely over the moon — you could say they’ve passed the feel test with flying colours.
All pre‑orders have now been sent out (thank you to everyone who got in early!), and we still have stock available. If you’d like one, trot over to the shop on the website.
Ravenswell Farm — Planning a Visit with a Twist
We caught up with the team at Ravenswell Farm and organised a visit for next Friday. There may or may not be a surprise in store for one of the visitors… and while I won’t spoil anything, let’s just say it’s shaping up to be a moment that will leave someone feeling like they’ve just won a photo finish.
Ellie — Cantering Along Nicely
Just Passing Bye (Ellie) continues to progress well. The team are very happy with her, and she’s cantering away with purpose. She’s edging closer to her debut, and we’re excited to see her on the track in the not‑too‑distant future.

Freya — Getting Fitter by the Day
We also organised a visit to Tom Lacey’s for another member to see Silverhill Freya (Freya) next week. She’s thriving, getting fitter by the day, and the team are delighted with her progress.
Between Ellie and Freya, it’s hard to call who will reach the track first — it’s shaping up to be a proper head‑bobber. Freya does have the advantage of more races in the programme, so she might just get her nose in front.

A Trip to Lambourn — Meeting Our Blue Bresil Filly
On Friday, I headed to Lambourn to visit D & K Racing and our Blue Bresil filly, recently purchased at the Tattersalls Ireland August Sale. She’s currently being broken in and has made excellent progress.
Her walk is a joy to watch — a long, flowing stride that screams potential. She’s a beautiful filly, and I’m still slightly shocked we managed to secure her for the price we did. She’s keen, willing, and very much giving off “teacher’s pet” vibes in her early education.
Capital shares are available from £800, with nothing else to pay until she goes into full training.
We also need to give her a stable name — high on the agenda. If you have suggestions, send them over.
It was also great to catch up with David and Katie and see their upgraded facilities at Kingwood House Stables — one of the Shadwell yards. A big step up from their previous base, and fantastic news for the horses who spend time there.
National Racehorse Week — Charlock Stud Steals the Show
Then came the big day: Charlock Stud’s first ever National Racehorse Week open day.
To my surprise, I arrived to find myself directing visitors to the parking area a full 30 minutes before the gates opened — not quite the role I expected, but we’ll call it a late entry into the stewards room.
A quick dash into the yard to get the Emris stand set up, and then… the floodgates opened. Waves of visitors poured in, showing just how popular Charlock Stud is and how eager the public are to learn.
We met people who had travelled from as far as Devon and Cornwall, and it was brilliant to see so many young people exploring, asking questions, and getting hands‑on with the demonstrations.
The stud put on a fantastic range of activities, and our three yearlings were absolute stars — they soaked up the attention like seasoned pros. It was so busy that I barely managed any photos, and somehow took none of my setup or horses. A schoolboy error I’ll be correcting next year.
Huge credit to David, Caroline, Graham, Carla and the entire team for organising such a wonderful experience. Word is they’re already planning to go even bigger next year — and judging by the turnout, they’ll need a bigger car park too.
Looking Ahead
Next week we have visits to Tom Lacey’s and Fergal O’Brien’s, along with catch‑ups from the other yards. Plenty to look forward to — and no doubt a few stories that will keep us all on our toes.
