Join us at the races!

An interesting week began with a chat with Huntingdon Racecourse to go over the plans for our involvement with their syndicate race day on the 19th of May. We have confirmed our trade stand, which is great, and we are keen to support the racecourse with some further involvement, so we are hoping to have news on this in the next week or so. To celebrate our trade stand, we are offering all members a free ticket to the races at the course on the 19th. If you would like to come along, grab yourself a share in any of our horses, and we will arrange your ticket.

We also set up a TikTok account, so go follow us! https://www.tiktok.com/@emris.racing.

I didn't make it out to the yards this week, but the reports have all been very positive. "Ellie," who is currently being broken in, is progressing very nicely and is ready for a

canter now. She is taking to her education very well, and we remain very confident that she will make her racecourse debut in October/November. The plan for her is to remain in Lambourn with Katie Croft and David Fehily for some pre-training. For those not familiar with them and D & K Racing, they break in and pre-train all of Clive Cox's horses, along with a large number of horses for other trainers, including Nicky Henderson. They are very highly thought of and experienced in the art of breaking in and pre-training, and we are delighted they are working with us on "Ellie." A big thank you must go to Jerry McGrath, our bloodstock agent, for sorting it out for us.

Over at Charlock Stud, the yearlings are all very happy and growing very nicely.

"Emma" has certainly shown the most progress in terms of her size, but we always thought that would be the case, being those few months younger than the others. She was treated to a new headcollar last week and appears in very good health.

"Pam" is a very sweet one who is never far from her best

friend "Emma." They have developed a really nice bond and even share food! I'm not one for sharing food, so they are better than me!

"Paul" is great; his belly is still growing, and he is a fan of the early spring grass (I'm not sure what time

of year it is matters as his head is almost glued to the floor!). I have been meaning to get some dates over to Bryan Mayoh to go and meet "Paul's" sire and dam, but due to circumstances, I have not been able to arrange that yet. However, it is definitely a priority for me in the next couple of weeks.

Eskdale Stud, the official breeder of "Paul," sent us a picture of "Paul" at 1 day old, which was a very nice touch on their behalf and something we really appreciated. I'm sure you will agree he was a very, very sweet foal!

All of the yearlings had a visit from the farrier last week, and I'm pleased to report they were all very well-behaved and had a nice little trim.

I have had another little mishap with my ankle and a trip to the hospital to get it checked. No break, which is a positive, though I did learn that unbeknownst to me, I have actually broken it sometime prior to 2018 (I had another X-ray then) as the healed break also showed on that X-ray. The doctor just decided not to tell me, probably assuming I knew about it. It is looking highly likely that surgery is the way I will need to go to fix the issue. With a referral already in, hopefully that won't be too long, but you never know these days!

Until next time!
